“COVID-19: On the Ground in India” Recap

On Thursday, May 7, 2020 MIT-India hosted a webinar to discuss the efforts of MIT alumni to tackle the global crisis in India, and the community building and collaboration that has led to incredible innovation and progress. We’ve compiled some highlights from the webinar below.

Anirudh Sharma, founder of Graviky, spoke about collaborating with experts across different disciplines to provide low-cost PPE kits all over India. “It was a great effort in community building around technology and bringing people from various levels of expertise to put something together.”

Anushka Shah, founder of Civic Studios, teamed up with the Indian Police Foundation to produce videos to help address the challenges faced by law enforcement officers on the frontlines of the pandemic and provided them with guidelines and best practices to promote a kind and encouraging approach to protecting the public.

Hank Levine, founder of iPlace, described the efforts of his recruiting team to simultaneously adjust to working remotely and, through hard work and innovative ideas, ensure people are still placed in jobs amidst the pandemic.
